In Internet Explorer, the proxy settings can be automatically detected, but that is not the case with Firefox.
In Firefox, you have to manually set the proxy before you can use our
Uni’s Network. Although the process of manually changing the proxy
settings is not too difficult, it can be a pain if you have to do it
every now and then. One of the good things about Firefox is that it
offer developers the opportunity to develop Add-ons for Firefox to add
more functionalities. With FoxyProxy, proxy switching in Firefox is only two clicks away 
So…how do we set this up?
Step 0. Open up your Firefox web browser and go to https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/
Step 1. Enter “FoxyProxy” into the text box and press the Search button.
Step 2. Click on the FoxyProxy link.
Step 3. Scroll down the page until you find the “green box” that says Install Now, just click on the box after you found it.
Step 4. If you read and accepted their “End User License Agreement”, just click on the Accept and Install button.
Step 5. Shortly after you have pressed the Accept and Install button, this dialog box will pop up, just click on the Install Now button.
Step 6. Firefox should start to download the FoxyProxy extension right away.
Step 7. After the download finishes, it will install the extension and ask you to restart your Firefox. Just click on the Restart Firefox button.
Step 8. After the Firefox starts up, you should see the above dialog, just click on the No button for now.
Step 9. Go to Tools -> FoxyProxy -> Options
Step 10. In the newly opened window, under the Proxies tab, you will only see a Default proxy, which connects to the Internet directly.
Step 11. Click on the Add New Proxy button to add a proxy.
Step 12. Fill in the details accordingly, its best to give the proxy a meaningful name.
Step 13. In the Proxy Details tab (tabs can be changed at the top of the picture), enter the information regarding to your proxy. In our case, we enter our Uni’s proxy information for the Configuration.
Step 14. When you have entered all the information, just click on the OK button to save the settings. You should see the dialog box above popping up, just click on Yes.
Step 15. Now you should see two proxies.
Step 16. Click on the Global Settings tab at the top.
Step 17. Take a look of the Statusbar Activation. I personally prefer to change all of them to Show context menu, so no matter which button people press, they will get the context menu.
Step 18. Now click on the OK button to save your settings.
Step 19. Did you notice the FoxyProxy at the bottom right hand corner of Firefox? If you want to change your proxy settings, just click on it (if you followed my settings, left / middle / right click should be the same) and you will get a menu. Use Otago Uni for accessing the Internet using the Uni Network, use Default for others (e.g. Your Internet at home).
